You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAutonomously performs complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures for patients of all ages under the supervision of qualified physicians for diagnosis treatment and prevention of disease. Diagnostic sonographers take the initiative to confirm the imaging orders for completeness and accuracy. Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity. Responsible for contacting the ordering physician if an inadequate reason for test is supplied. Sonographers utilize advanced knowledge to perform diagnostic procedures (inpatient and outpatient settings including portable and O.R. examinations) by producing assessing and evaluating ultrasound images and related data. Sonographers are required to exercise independent judgment in the interpretation and analysis of exams and provide a preliminary diagnosis of the technical findings to the physician.

Graduate of an accredited sonography program and/or ARDMS registered (or registry eligible) in abdomen and/or OB/GYN as appropriate. Registry eligible candidates must become ARDMS registered in abdomen and/or OB/GYN within six months of Mayo employment. Advanced certification may be registered (or registry eligible) in abdomen and/or OB/GYN as appropriate; Basic Life Support.
