Job Description
LC State invites applications for the position of Shop Assistant (Tool Room Aide).
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $16.00 per hour (9-month position/.58 fte)
Required Qualifications:
- Some knowledge of: Inventory methods; materials and supplies procurement and handling storing and shipping methods; MSDS sheets and safety procedures for caustic flammable and hazardous products.
- Experience: using equipment service manuals to troubleshoot and report or upgrade power tools and equipment; preparing written material and completing forms filing and retrieving data using a computerized records system.
- Good customer relations and communication skills are essential.
- Must be mechanically capable of repairing tooling and service equipment.
- Process parts and supply requisitions and instruct students on proper procedures for ordering parts.
- Experience with maintaining spreadsheets and reconciling budgets.
- Calculate work orders for repairs made to the vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree from a regionally accredited college/university
Responsibilities:
Maintain spreadsheets and reconcile budget for Diesel and Collision Repair programs; Good customer relations skills; Maintain tool room inventory and responsible for the maintenance of tools and equipment; Process parts and supply requisitions as well as instruct students on proper procedures for ordering; Calculate retail cost to the customer for repairs made to the vehicles; Close out repair orders and communicates with program faculty on tool room inventory and parts status.
Expectations for this position is to support faculty during their teaching times with new cohort options such as evening and weekends.
This position will work approximately 7 hours a day when courses are offered for 32 weeks a year: 16 weeks each semester (mid-August to mid-December; then mid-January to mid-May).
Additional duties include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
