Job Description Summary:

Drapers Biotechnology Systems business empowers national security through the delivery of innovative solutions in the areas of Biodefense Biomedical and Novel Materials & Applications to address the most pressing challenges and hardest problems. The Senior Program Manager reports directly to the Interim Vice President of Biotechnology Systems. This position will require extensive coordination with multiple Business Area Leads. In this role you will be primarily responsible for business development activities to achieve transformational growth objectives and lead program execution in support of customers missions and requirements in Drapers core business areas. You will also be responsible for executing projects/programs.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

Develop personal credibility with sponsor organizations and program staff with a clear ability to organize motivate and lead teams in business capture and execution activities.

Responsible for managing complex programs that may involve managing fixed price contract with high dollar volume or contract length.

Oversees program budget and schedules.
Responsible for program growth.
Responsible for marketing new technology or follow-up on business acquisition.
May be responsible for business development within current customer base and/or for new customers.
Responsible for program execution including interfacing with customers
Coordinating successful execution of programs with internal stakeholders.
Ensures contractual deliverables are completed on schedule and within the approved budget.
Support Program Directors Business Area Leads and Senior Program Managers in the development of internal products and provide recommendations for research and development.
Develop technical program management best practices and provide training/mentoring to project teams
Monitors dependencies across multiple inter-related technical projects to adhere to methodologies budgets and timing
Gather and report consolidated technical project status and financial information to leadership
Recommends changes to improve processes and alleviate process inaccuracy and duplication.

Possess excellent communications presentation and networking skills.

Deep expertise in leading program execution of full lifecycle projects; identifying capturing and growing new business; and managing customer engagement.

Experience growing business in the areas of R&D technology development and/or integration of new technology into existing fielded systems.

Excellent written and verbal communications presentations skills organizational and time management skills. Must be able to clearly and concisely present complicated information and relationships to executive leadership peers staff customers and stakeholders.

Education
Bachelors Degree in Engineering Business or equivalent discipline required.

Experience
5-7 years program related experience in functional or program management.

Additional Job Description:

  • Deliver on program commitments to our customers with strong customer satisfaction across cost schedule technical management quality and communications.
  • Identify and cultivate strong customer and industry relationships while applying deep knowledge of one or more biodefense biomedical and novel materials markets to drive growth internal investments and business priorities.
  • Support the delivery of a 5-year Integrated Business Plan and subsequent Annual Operating Plan (funding revenue and operating profit) to include accurate quarterly forecasts with balanced risk and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to lead the development of compelling proposals and presentations tailored to the specific needs of government customers.
  • Grow business development pipeline to achieve revenue and growth targets.
  • Develop long-term business relationships and contribute to Drapers ability to win follow-on and new work with sponsor organizations ( DTRA JPEO BARDA ARPA-H IARPA others)

Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of progressive experience and responsibility leading programs in support of biotechnology-focused research and development for the U.S. Government with an ability to achieve Drapers business objectives and meet customer requirements.
  • Extensive experience with DoD and US Government program management requirements generation budgeting and contracting procedures laws and policies.
  • Experience navigating and accessing key stakeholders across Government agencies (e.g. JPEO DARPA DTRA IARPA BARDA ARPA-H and others to drive business growth and impact).
  • A strong background in the research and development of system solutions thatare used to evaluate and protect the nation from CBRN and CWMD threats. This is a national security focused area with stakeholders across the USG.
  • Understanding of the Biotechnology Systems mission space and strong background in multiple areas that include: microphysiological systems (MPS); medical countermeasure (MCM) solutions; biomedical devices; novel materials applications; all focused on high-priority CBRN and CWMD threats.
  • Demonstrated experience leading business captures and business development campaigns to include proposal development for government customers.
  • Demonstrated experience leading diverse matrixed and virtual teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational strategy development inclusive of investment infrastructure and talent management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications presentations skills organizational and time management skills. Candidate must be able to clearly present ideas to executive leadership peers staff customers and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

  • Advanced degree(s) in biology biomedical engineering or other technical fields (Data Science Chemistry Physics EE ME CE/CS)
  • PMP certification or equivalent

Location & Travel

  • Cambridge MA or Reston VA is preferred.
  • A fully-remote position may be considered but travel will be required.
  • Draper has a hybrid workforce and 1-2 days per week of work-from-home is available to this position.
  • Travel for this position is estimated at 25%.
