Job Description

The responsibility of a Claims Handler at Arch International (UK) Insurance Company Limited relates to all Cyber claims generated by Arch managed syndicates and company platforms in the U.K with additional exposure in the U.S and EMEA regions.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Handle claims associated with Arch International (UK) Insurance Ltd policies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior members.
  • Provide technical leadership to the rest of the London market on lead files.
  • Responsible for the delivery of a high level claims service. This involves regular communication with claims manager and underwriters.
  • Assist underwriters in the implementation of their overall underwriting strategy.
  • Represent Cyber claims at events client meetings broker meetings and Arch internal meetings (when required).
  • Manage service providers involved in the claims function on a day to day basis
  • Assist in the managing of TPAs including annual audits.
  • Assist in aspects of coverage and potential recovery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Expertise

  • Responsibility for handling claims within handlers authority levels.
  • Adhere to the Arch International (UK) Insurance Ltd reserving philosophy and ensure claims are reserved in a consistent and accurate manner.
  • Assist Underwriters when required on policy interpretation and wording issues.
  • Deliver concise clear and accurate reports such as Large Loss and Risk Alert Reports.
  • Deliver concise clear and accurate audit reports for compliance purposes.

2. Manage external service providers

  • Manage relationships with brokers Insureds Coverholders and third party providers
  • Feedback on the performance of technical experts i.e. lawyers and loss adjusters and ensuring adherence to SLAs
  • Effectively influencing and negotiating with external and internal contacts
  • Feedback on the performance of TPAs
  • Audit of TPAs

3. Claims Strategy & Market Leadership

  • Involved in the delivery of the departments business goals and objectives.
  • Representing Arch International (UK) Insurance Ltd in the London market for both Lloyds and company platforms.
  • Where Arch are agreement party act as a market lead including strategy planning managing market calls/meetings and the demands/expectations of market followers
  • Delivery of claims tasks and projects outside day-to-day workflow
  • Contribute to improving claims processes and procedures as necessary

Skills / Competencies

  • Good technical knowledge of the London market Cyber business.
  • Knowledge of Professional Indemnity would be advantageous.
  • Experience of UK/US law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions would be advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of coverage issues/policy interpretation.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently at the highest levels across all areas of an organisation.
  • Strategically minded.
  • Results and service focused.
  • Strong influencing and quick decision making using own initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately and be highly organised.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Minimum of 5x A-C GCSE grades plus A-levels or degree.
  • Qualified DIP CII or progression towards would be advantageous.
  • Insurance claims Industry experience.
  • Experienced in handling claims in excess of 5m.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the Insurance Market handling complex Cyber Claims.
