About the unit
The Neonatal ICU is a Critical Care Unit within Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital caring for newborn babies born with various conditions that havent yet been discharged to go home with their family. We build great relationships with the parents of our NICU babies since they are so frequently here at the bedside. We are the largest NICU in Michigan and care for babies from 37 counties. The NICU unit is a 108 bed unit.

We have both inpatient and ambulatory spaces as well as a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department designated to children.
Scope of work
Performs receptionist/secretarial duties and maintains confidential records supplies and equipment per hospital and unit specific standards.
The Unit Secretary is the go to on each unit for clerical support. Responsibilities include taking phone calls helping with directions to all visitors or outside team members to the unit (lab radiology patient transport nutrition services environmental services) calling support when directed by clinical staff assisting with discharge admit and transfer paperwork ordering supplies ensuring rooms are appropriately stocked answering call lights for any non-direct patient care needs etc.
Core Schedule
This will have a set core schedule that has minimal flexibility due to the small group. After the initial weeks of training the schedule will follow this pattern:
- Week 1: Tuesday Friday Saturday
- Week 2: Sunday Wednesday Thursday
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years of related/relevant experience preferred
