ESSENTIAL DUTIES FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides fitness and health education as well as screening services to individuals families schools and communities within FDIHB service area.
- Promotes the physical activity guidelines for all populations in all projects and events.
- Provides client consultation and assessment with clear instruction in order to gather pertinent information for fitness assessment and program design.
- Conducts and assists with fitness assessments in order to assist Clinical Fitness staff.
- Implements fitness training programs for low and moderate risk clients in collaboration with Fitness Specialists and department Supervisors.
- Fitness training programs will be based on results from pre-participation screening consultation fitness assessment results and client goals.
- Provides evidence-based education on the effects of exercise to chronic disease specific to diabetes youth obesity etc.
- Assists with exercise programming in accordance with Fitness Specialists treatment plan for patients and participants.
- Retrieves patients medical history using the Standard Health Summary through Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Works collaboratively with supervisor on program/project implementation monthly activity schedules data collection marketing and reporting.
- Assists/independently monitors fitness center.
- Participates in department quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.
- Defers all matters to Fitness Specialist that are beyond scope of work of the Fitness Health Technician.
- Performs general maintenance duties including but not limited to cleaning fitness equipment and restocking supplies on a regular basis.
- Helps in community based planning teams committees or coalitions including areas of the worksite schools community and chapters in planning health and fitness education.
- Works with moderate degree of independence; must be able to exercise independent professional judgment.
- Adheres to HIPAA Privacy Act and corporate policy requirements when dealing with all patient records or any Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Models healthy behaviors.
- Participates in continuous evaluation of programs and services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: No experience required.
Education: Associate Degree in Exercise Science or related field or equivalent experience.
* Completion or requirement to obtain within six (6) months of starting employment the following certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
