Public Sector Compliance Investigator Apprentice

Apprentice Grade

Yr1 Salary 22922per annum

Yr2 cost of living increase

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Enforcement Team. While studying a Level 3 Public Service Investigator Officer apprenticeship youll be involved in driving behavioural change in Haveringthrough the promotion of responsible waste disposal issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) to offenders caught Fly-Tipping and supporting prosecutions following PACE interviews and court hearings.

Our apprenticeship is designed to give you the hands-on experience needed in a real job that brings out the best in you with real responsibilities real challenges real projects and scope to grow your career.

Support fly-tipping investigations on behalf of the Council and other ASB issues in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance. This will require learning how to secure and preserve evidence in line with the PACE Codes of Practice including CCTV footage prepare legal case files and issue fixed penalty notices.

  • Learn how to prepare technical evidence and witness statements.
  • Deal with people from all backgrounds in a calm but assertive manner and possess the ability to be both professional and diplomatic.

About the Job

  • The job title of Apprentice applies to all apprentices recruited to the council. Each apprentice will be a member of a specific functional team although they will be expected to work in a flexible manner and carry out appropriate work in other teams when necessary to meet service objectives.
  • To be successful as an Apprentice the post holder must have great time management skills and be willing to fit into the existing team structure. The post holder must demonstrate the councils values and behaviours in all that they do. Outstanding Apprentices are those who respond well to criticism build good relationships with colleagues and ultimately make a positive lasting impression.
  • Capabilities include:
    • Good communication skills with clear spoken and written English;
  • Work as part of a team supporting and working together with other team members;
  • To demonstrate a flexible approach in the delivery of work in the service area;
  • Able to deal professionally with the public;
  • Able to follow instructions and work to deadlines;
  • Able to use initiative and learn how to prioritise workload;
  • Aware of equality and diversity;
  • Aware of health and safety;
  • Able to understand the importance of punctuality and understands the impact that sickness absence has on the effectiveness of the team.
