Job Description
The FTO provides safe quality care to ill or injured patients in pre-hospital or inter-hospital settings. Operates and maintains PTN vehicles in safe and ready condition. Serves as an instructor and evaluator of assigned staff during field and classroom activities. Function as a role model demonstrate leadership skills and an elevated level of clinical competence.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*
- Staffs an ambulance and practices within the scope of practice for appropriate state certification.
- Demonstrates appropriate assessment skills in following established patient care protocols and collaborates with other team members.
- Provide a safe therapeutic and efficient patient care environment through collaboration with other disciplines.
- Supports and adheres to State of Ohio Michigan ProMedica Health System and PTN policies and procedures.
- Identify clinical area deficiencies with new/current personnel and assist with developing modalities to facilitate improvement.
- Assist the Educators with new employee orientation skill evaluations continuing education classes and departmental training exercises.
- Assist with peer chart reviews for Continuous Quality Improvement.
- Attend and participate in Field Training Officer Educator and QA meetings.
- Maintain PTN vehicles in a constant state of readiness and cleanliness. Document check of assigned PTN vehicles and equipment each shift.
- Perform related work as required by the position.
Requirements
Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be a certified EMT-Paramedic in the state of Ohio. Michigan licensure acquired within thirty (30) days of hire.
Skills: Must maintain current knowledge in area of expertise through self-directed education and participation in formal and continuing education. Must maintain specialty certification and/or credentials. Must have excellent communication organizational and writing skills.
Years of Experience: Five (5) years experience as an EMS Provider.
License: State of Ohio Paramedic State of Michigan Paramedic.
Certification: Level I EMS state of Ohio instructor or must actively work to obtain within sux (6) months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: One (1) year of teaching experience. One year as a PTN Paramedic.

Certification: Must be Nationally Registered or willing to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
