The Manager of Clinical Informatics supports the Clinical Informatics (CI) leadership to manage Ann and Robert H. Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicagos Clinical Informatics program. Works in close collaboration with CMIO office medical staff hospital leaders and Information Management to foster improvements in care through utilization of the electronic health record (EHR). Shows expertise in the use of technology to improve the quality safety and efficiency of care delivery processes and outcomes. Manages resources and guides successful implementation of improvements in clinical information systems to support excellent clinical outcomes. Holds accountability for clinical informatics resources and guarantees efficient implementation of clinical informatics solutions. Understands patient care human factors and process improvement methodologies and is responsible for strategies that result in the effective design development and implementation of clinical informatics tools. Fulfills an advisory role to both hospital and medical staff leaders including but not limited to compliance best practices and strategic improvement initiatives. Works collaboratively with organization leadership to align the use of the EHR with Lurie Childrens mission strategic goals and the evolution of healthcare reform.

- Ensures staff and informatics workforce receive information and data needed to perform and prioritize initiatives including feedback to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
- Addresses performance issues when indicated and administers policies decisions & disciplinary actions with consistency.
- Holds accountability and oversight of provider informaticists supporting various Clinical Informatics projects across the system to drive action toward institutional priority and goals ensuring quality work product with timely delivery.

- Strengthens our brand as a top tier pediatric provider by learning and implementing best practices while utilizing technology and clinical informatics tools to improve clinical outcomes.
- Pursues opportunities to present at national meetings.
- Collaborates with clinicians in research that would benefit from informatics tools.
Patient Safety and Quality
- Maintains high standards for quality of care & patient safety.
- Supports CMIO Office on initiatives to improve both processes and outcomes utilizing clinical informatics tools and incorporating best practices and innovations.
Financial Performance
- Aligns department goals and manages department resources to meet Lurie Childrens strategic objectives.
- Helps others understand the external healthcare reform pressures and utilizes technology to position Lurie Childrens for financial success.
- Evaluates informatics projects on their impact in reducing waste.
Area Specific Job Accountabilities:
- Informatics liaison to Clinical Applications teams. Ensures appropriate CI review and representation to support clinical changes to the EHR. Coordinates CI review of Epic Quarterly Update activities including Nova notes and Provider Training portfolio.
- Analyzes and evaluates data independently to identify trends for potential areas of improvement with creation of targeted action plans for optimizing performance and utilization of key clinical informatics tools.
- Manages and supports the performance improvement efforts of the clinical teams utilizing and leveraging the clinical informatics tools to further support improved efficiency and provider experience in the use of our informatics tools.
- Assists in the coordination implementation execution control and completion of Clinical Informatics projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy commitments and goals.
- Develops an outcomes assessment program to monitor the impact of individual informatics interventions and uses the analysis to refine and improve the intervention and/or clinical workflow.
- Collaborates with organization leadership on accountability for quality reporting regulatory compliance patient safety and workflow efficiencies.
- Collaborates with HIM Risk Legal Compliance and Accreditation Readiness teams to maintain knowledge of Joint Commission CMS and other relevant regulatory requirements and provides advice regarding information system impact on meeting regulatory standards.
- Applies strong analytical skills to gather information from users define work problems and develop improvements supported by technology including measurement of outcomes related to the intervention.
- Collaborates with Data Insights & AI to utilize data to provide new information on clinical care and develop new knowledge to transform care at the bedside.
- Provides consultation and support for patient safety and quality improvement projects involving the use of electronic clinical informatics tools. Ensures effective use of clinical informatics resources in partnership with Center of Quality and Safety.
- Promotes use of available functionality within Lurie Childrens EHR to ensure that the clinical data display at the user interface promotes providers and clinicians making the best evidence-based clinical decisions.
- Collaborates with Epic Training Team on the tools and resources available to help clinicians effectively use the EHR. Supports the dissemination of resources through the CMIO Office.
- Serves as an expert in the design and implementation of EHR interventions to optimize capture of clinical data during routine workflow and utilizing the data to inform and improve practice.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team and leadership.
- Conducts coordinates and publishes research in health care informatics and seeks opportunities to collaborate with peer organizations throughout the country.
- Supports dissemination of scholarly output in the form of presentations posters and publications.
- Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients families co-workers and others.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelors degree in healthcare related discipline. Masters degree or higher in Healthcare Administration Clinical Informatics or related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health record technology and prior experience in implementing interventions to influence clinician behavior improve quality and patient safety and reduce costs. Epic experience and/or certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of healthcare reform quality patient safety and regulatory / compliance issues affecting healthcare at a national and local level.
- Excellent project management and business analysis skills. Experience with process improvement methods e.g. DMAIC PDSA Lean Six Sigma etc. is desired.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with clinicians and staff at all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership and change management skills to engage clinical leaders in managing accountabilities associated with enterprise clinical performance goals.

At Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
