Finishing(Coater) Department ManagerPosition Overview
Shaw Industries is recruiting for a Department Manager to provide leadership to the Plant WE Finishing (Coating) Department in safety efficiency productivity cost and quality while ensuring compliance with all company plant and departmental guidelines and procedures. The plant WE coater produces both commercial carpet and urethane turf.
This position is located in Chatsworth GA.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in the areas of Safety Quality Productivity and Cost.
- Establish goals for the department and implement/champion projects as necessary to ensure performance aligns with goals.
- Drive employee engagement within the department.
- Create an environment that fosters teamwork innovation and the relentless pursuit of improvement.
- Lead and develop the team on all shifts utilizing the PX (Performance Experience) process.
- Ensure compliance with all company plant departmental and HR policies.
- Ensure associate issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Ensure customer relationships are positively maintained through open communication and customer satisfaction needs are met with on-time and quality products.
- Seek cost savings opportunities throughout the process.
- Ensure that all departmental procedures and instructions are followed by employees.
- Motivate employees to work in a safe clean and efficient manner.
- Use Six Sigma. LEAN and other statistical tools to monitor and improve the process.
- Develop and maintain all aspects of SMS and Standard Work for the department.
- Work on AO docs documentation as required (Ex: RCAs Procedures Spec approvals etc.)
- Expected to work off shifts and or weekends as needed.
- Minimal travel to other plants.
Requirements:
- 4 Year college degree required.
- 2 years leadership experience required
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Self-motivated organized detail-oriented & able to effectively multi-task.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management and associates.
