Position Description
TheDepartment of History in the College of Arts and Humanities at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified motivated and well-organized applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

The Department of History
The mission of the Department of History is to provide CSUDH students with educational opportunities that meet the highest academic standards to model for students the value of diversity and cultural pluralism and to transform our students into life-long learners capable of realizing their personal and professional ambitions. We do so as the representatives of the discipline of history on this campus; and our conduct is thus informed by a set of standards and principles shared by the community of practicing historians in the United engaged citizens teachers and scholars we are committed to transforming California State University Dominguez Hills into a unique community of teaching learning and research.

The Position
The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities
Teach assigned lower-division and/or upper-division courses in the departments curriculum and provide weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. In AY 25//26 the department may need additional faculty to teach the following courses:
HIS 101: United States History
HIS 120: World History I to 1500
HIS 121: World History II 1500-present
HIS 376: Film as History

Employment Requirement
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
In accordance with the California State University (CSU) Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside of California.
Salary and Benefit Information
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5507 - $ 6677
Lecturer B: $6221 - $13224
Lecturer C: $6825 - $14523
Lecturer D: $8593 - $15211

A United States (US) Equivalency certification is required for earned/awarded/conferred foreign terminal degrees which is from a foreign Academic Institution for foreign studies. The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e. Bachelors Masters Doctorates Doctors of Philosophy).
