POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Manager Financial Reporting and provides advanced technical and advisory support to the hospitals financial reporting function treasury operations and month-end close process. These include statutory reporting requirements and financial oversight of funded programs and related entities. Within this role you will ensure the accuracy compliance and timeliness of key financial deliverables in a dynamic and highly regulated environment.The Senior Financial Analyst is more than a technical expertthey are a key contributor to CHEOs mission. Through strong financial stewardship and problem-solving they help ensure that resources are used effectively to support the hospitals ultimate goal: delivering exceptional care to children youth and families.

COMPENSATION

$46.54 - $54.74 (hourly)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads in monthly and year-end financial analysis of key general ledger control accounts in preparation of the external audit for CHEO the School Authority and Research Institute;

  • Leads in the preparation of annual Charity Returns (T3010) for CHEO and the Research Institute

  • Prepares and files monthly HST returns for the hospital School Authority and Research Institute;

  • Prepares monthly journal entries in the accounting system to ensure month-end financial results are accurate and complete;

  • Prepares complex accrual entries at period end building excel workbooks and schedules for maintaining calculations and balances;

  • Plays a key role in the month-end close process and the preparation of internal financial statements/reports for CHEO;

  • Facilitates core aspects of the treasury function including cash flow bank reconciliations investments and all related accounting entries;

  • Provides subject matter expertise on the hospital budget process including analytical review and advisory support to operations/medical directors;

  • Identifies opportunities for departmental workflow improvements and drives implementation within the financial operations of the organization;

  • Provides senior-level financial reporting and analysis to support strategic decision-making to managers and directors;

  • Collaborates with colleagues to strengthen expertise and promote an engaging team environment while providing mentorship to junior colleagues;

  • Work in a face-paced environment that requires agile clear thinking for quick turnaround of accurate high-quality deliverables;

  • Performs other duties as .

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Commerce Finance Accounting or a related discipline (Essential)

  • Professional accounting designation (or in pursuit of) (CA CPA CMA CGA CFA) (Essential)

  • A minimum of (5) years of work experience in Accounting and/or Financial Reporting (Essential)

  • Experience in a healthcare or not-for-profit setting (Preferred)

  • Previous experience with Workday (our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software) specifically Finance related modules (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of MIS and/or Ontario Hospital Reporting System (OHRS) guidelines (Preferred)

  • Demonstrated sound financial analytical and problem-solving skills (Essential)

  • Proficient in Excel PowerPoint SharePoint Adobe Teams & other Business Applications (Essential)

  • Communicate effectively and concisely with individuals with and without financial backgrounds both orally and in writing in English (Essential)

  • Highly organized with demonstrated initiative and ability to adjust priorities (Essential)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail (Essential)

  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and meet critical deadlines in a fast-moving environment (Essential)

Effective March 29 2021 CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test practical exam or other assessment.
