Job Description
WCF Insurance Information Technology (IT) department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a Manager Data Engineering reporting to the VP Data and Business Intelligence. This is a full-time exempt position that works in WCFs Sandy Utah office (NOT REMOTE).
The person in this position leads and mentors other ETL developers and data engineers and works closely with internal business liaisons to provide a modern scalable and agile data warehouse to support business and management systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and functional leadership as a practitioner and a manager to a team tasked with designing developing populating testing and maintaining new and existing data warehouse environments.
- Procure manage maintain and oversee ETL processes and tools used for the data warehouse environments.
- Develop subject matter expertise and share with the managed team.
- Establish and enforce data warehouse standards for the team that are compliant with overall department standards.
- Ensure excellent warehouse availability during uptime hours.
- Work independently with general supervision with and without formal project management.
- Keep current with emerging technologies established requirements and remain technically proficient.
- Continually improve management skills technical skills debugging techniques written and oral communication skills and customer service.
Qualifications
The most qualified candidate will have:
- Bachelors degree in a technology-related field.
- At least five years of related work experience (or nine years of related work experience without a degree.) Insurance experience is a plus.
- At least three years of previous management experience.
- Strong leadership ability to develop team members and work with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of database concepts RDMS and data warehouse concepts.
- Clear understanding of IT development processes requirements and governance.
- Deep understanding of SQL syntax and tools.
- Proficiency in documentation tools Jira and project management.
