Consider being part of a team of environmental professionalsthat manage and regulate underground storage tank systems containing petroleum fuel products and hazardous substances throughout the great state of Montana. The goal of the Montana Underground Storage Tank (UST) Leak Prevention Program is to protect human health and the environment by preventing releases of petroleum and hazardous substances from UST systems.
We are actively recruiting an Underground Storage Tank Specialist to join our team in the Tanks Brownfields & Federal Facilities (TBFF) Bureau of the Waste Management & Remediation Division. The Underground Storage Specialist conducts compliance inspection reviews compliance inspector oversight inspections enforcement activities and facility follow-up tasks using program development tools such as Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and Enforcement Requests. The position will conduct licensee training stakeholder outreach and complete environmental assessments. The Underground Storage Specialist will issue underground storage tank construction and operating permits in accordance with industry standards and Montana regulations. The position provides compliance assistance to the regulated community to ensure facilities achieve or remain in regulatory compliance by educating/coaching facility owners/operators on rules and requirements conducting facility site visits providing operator training materials and technical assistance to owner/operators on proper management operation and maintenance of underground storage tanks systems.

Detailed Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in education environmental health the biological or physical sciences or engineering especially geology hydrogeology environmental engineering or environmental sciences or a closely related field.
Two years of job-related experience.
Current valid Drivers License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training is required upon hire and Medical Surveillance Program recommended enrollment is recommended.
Other combinations of education and experience may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
