Heavy Equipment Mechanic

DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Mechanics. This position is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of vehicles equipment and tools under the direction of the Shop Manager.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Prioritize and work on projects needing immediate attention.
• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests identifying worn and damaged parts.
• Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion.
• Assist in fabrication of new equipment/new builds as directed.
• Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing repairing adjusting overhauling assembling disassembling and replacing major assemblies sub-assemblies components parts or systems such as power and drive trains electrical air conditioning fuel emission brake steering hydraulics and vegetation spray systems.
• Completes machine shop operations adjusting and alignments including bearing loads gear tooth contact valve mechanisms governors oil systems control linkages clutches and traction units.
• Check vehicle performance by conducting test drives adjusting controls and systems.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine safety and combustion control standards.
• Conduct field visits in case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience:

• Technical educational training in Mechanics is preferred.
• Experience in welding fabrication and cutting required. 
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid drivers license with 5 years of clean driving history.
• Experience in heavy truck (gas and diesel) repair.
• Must have electrical and diagnostic skills.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen background and/or MVR check.
• Experience working on smaller hand tools such as chainsaws trimmers and leaf blowers. 
• Must have experience working on mowers skid steers spray equipment/ systems.  
• Ability to work overtime a plus.

Pay rate: $26.00-30.00/hour  based on experience.
