What will you do

A day in the life of a Senior Design Manager Womens Apparel at Vans looks a little like this:

Vans is seeking a talented and experienced leader to drive the creative and strategic direction of Vans Womens Apparel. This elevated role requires a visionary with a deep understanding of the culture community and activities that define the Vans lifestyle. You will partner closely with the Head of Design to co-create an authentic timeless and intentional brand vision that resonates globally.

Lets break down that day-in-the-life a bit more:

Design Development

  • Lead the design development of Womens assortments in line with seasonal concepts.
  • Conduct trend and business analysis to inform design decisions.
  • Create sketches initial tech packs fit direction fabric selection and developments.
  • Allocate colors develop washes and finishes and manage submit and bulk approvals.
  • Maintain an always-on mindset initiating 360 development and innovation for the Womens category.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and inspire the Womens Apparel Design team through seasonal collections and special projects.
  • Mentor and guide designers fostering creativity collaboration and strategic thinking.
  • Establish efficient work practices through calendar management process improvements and tool optimization.
  • Cultivate a collaborative and innovative environment within the team.
  • Coach and develop team members to design authentic emotive product for the Vans customer.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with regional and global cross-functional teams (Merchandising Product Development Technical Design Consumer Insights etc.) to facilitate the GTM collection pipeline.
  • Oversee the process from pre-season research and development design and cost-engineering to bulk approvals.
  • Engage a continuous improvement mindsetfinding ways to deliver speed to market leverage materials and ideas across Mens Womens and Kids and maintain deep connection with key partners.
  • Ensure alignment and effective communication across all teams involved.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Ability to translate insights and inspiration into compelling apparel concepts.
  • Deep understanding of the cultural athletic archival and design influences that shape the Vans brand.
  • Ability to conduct trend analysis and market research to inform design decisions.
  • Knowledge of garment construction fabrics and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator Photoshop).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Hiring Range:

$138240.00 USD - $172800.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan sales incentive orcommissionpotential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
