TITLE: Laboratory Technician
DEPARTMENT: OCM Operations
REPORTS TO: Regional Manager
LOCATION: Suwanee GA
SUMMARY:Responsible for all day-to-day laboratory operations and management at a local divisional office. Manages operations team consisting of Lab Supervisor Chemist and Data Entry Supervisor for the facility. Supervises and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in performing chemical and physical tests of various commodities in response to customer requirements. Closely monitors lab-related financial performance and achieves or exceeds budgeted as the laboratory management representative for the Company at the respective location(s). Provides resource for lab-related customer service troubleshooting problem solving and the policies ethics and culture of the company in a leadership role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be designated.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages lab supervisor(s) (if applicable) and lab technicians. Is responsible for the overall management coordination direction and evaluation of the laboratory unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training lab employees; planning assigning and directing work;
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; use of hands and/or finger to feel objects work tools or controls; talk or hear and smell. For certain analytical tests the ability to see color is required a color blindness test will be taken to determine the ability to be able to perform some of those tests. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and with explosive material and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals and risks of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of radiation.
