The Early Years Service as part of the Education Effectiveness Service sits in Education and Community Health Directorate
The Role:
The role is a part time position (3 days a week) and is based in Mid Cornwall with an office base in Bodmin. The role supports Early Years providers (Nurseries pre-schools and Childminders) to understand and have compliance with the statutory framework ( Early Years Foundation Stage ) for safeguarding and welfare. The role sits within the Early Years Service team working alongside the rest of the team and includes supporting the sector through visits phone calls and training delivery. The role requires the candidate to drive to settings within the mid area of Cornwall to provide support guidance and information to setting managers.
This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern:
The role involves working 3 days a week.
What youll need to succeed:
The role requires the candidate to have an Early Years and Childcare Qualification at Level 3
Sound working knowledge of the early years legal requirements as documented in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (2024)
Experience of working in early years within the Private Voluntary and Independent (PVI) sector
Skills in supporting guiding and providing information to others in order to help them to develop professionally and meet statutory requirements in the early years.
Effective communication skills including use of phone e mails electronic calls (Teams/Zoom)
Effective IT skills in order to record and document work
Experience of working as part of a team
