Job Summary
The Student Extreme Heat Planner will support the development and implementation of a nation-level Extreme Heat Response Plan focusing on research community engagement and resilience-building initiatives. This role is ideal for a student or young professional passionate about climate adaptation emergency management public health or Indigenous knowledge. The successful candidate will assist in data collection community consultations and drafting key sections of the plangaining hands-on experience while contributing to community safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement & Interviews organizing and attending community meetings workshops design surveys or discussion guides
Research & Data Collection compile data on extreme heat risks health impacts Assist in mapping heat-vulnerable track and report on heat-related incidents
Report Writing & Documentation prepare briefing notes presentations draft sections of the Extreme Heat Response Plan
Outreach & Education develop educational materials (social media content posters infographics) on heat safety and help coordinate cooling center pilots.
Administrative Support take detailed meeting minutes assist with filing data entry.
Qualifications & Skills:
Enrolled in high school college or university in environmental studies emergency management public health Indigenous studies or related fields.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Google Suite Zoom).
Organized detail-oriented and able to work independently or in a team.
Experience working with Indigenous communities.
Working Conditions:
Mix of office work community engagement and potential fieldwork (may include outdoor activities in warm weather). Some local travel may be required.

COMPENSATION
This position is full time includes a comprehensive benefit package and a wage range of $20.00 per hour.
