Job Description

Leidos is seeking a Deputy Force Surgeon to support the MARCENT at MacDill Air Force Base FL. This critical role serves as the primary liaison for medical communications between the Deputy Surgeon US Forces CENTCOM and CCSG Specialty Advisors. The Deputy Force Surgeon will coordinate bio-surveillance preventive medicine and force health protection efforts for US MARCENT forces within the CENTCOM AOR ensuring alignment with military medical directives and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance on CENTCOM Medical Operational Deployment (MOD) ensuring compliance with directives from CCSG BUMED and DHHQ.

  • Advise on pharmaceutical and therapeutic protocols impacting medical care and logistics within the CENTCOM AOR.

  • Support the Armed Forces Blood Program coordinating the allocation and distribution of US and non-US blood products.

  • Oversee updates related to Global Health Engagement Policy and Operations Activities and Investments (OAI) in collaboration with US MARCENT G4Plans Operations and Medical Intelligence (POMI) and CCSG.

  • Conduct independent assessments of medical intelligence data regarding OCONUS medical facilities used by US MARCENT Forces informing medical planning and operational readiness.

  • Serve as MOD waiver authority in the absence of the MARCENT Force Surgeon managing medical approvals for operations and exercises within the CENTCOM AOR.

  • Coordinate the dissemination of medical intelligence tracking disease trends injuries and emerging threats within the region.

  • Monitor force health status and propose solutions to mitigate medical risks in theater.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Maintain medical privileges at 6th Medical Group Medical Clinic MacDill AFB conducting exams laboratory assessments and radiologic evaluations to support force medical readiness.

  • Provide clinical support for 48 hours per week maintaining continuous medical proficiency.

  • Compile and report LIMDU trackers Light Duty Trackers Physical Evaluation Board Trackers and readiness deficiency reports to the Force Surgeon.

  • Notify command leadership of personnel medically restricted from deployment or duty performance.

  • Coordinate with specialized medical organizations such as:

    • Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center

    • Defense Centers of Excellence

    • National Intrepid Center of Excellence

    • TRICARE Overseas Program

  • Oversee patient tracking for operational control (OPCON) forces during evacuation from theater collaborating with TPMRC and forward medical teams.

  • Review and advise on Annex Q medical planning for all OAI activities affecting US MARCENT OPCON/TACON forces.

  • Facilitate attendance at pre-deployment site surveys collaborating with host nation medical leaders on treatment and evacuation planning.

  • Assist in medical command and control for OAI operations serving as a liaison for TRICARE coordination in local treatment and evacuation procedures.

  • Collaborate with Defense Health Agency Headquarters Marine Corps Health Services BUMED and Fleet Forces Command to align policies and training directives with operational requirements.

  • Provide administrative support for MARCENT including:

    • Purple Heart boards

    • MARCENT Requirements Review Board

    • Physical fitness assessments

    • Referral coordination with Tampa-based providers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Federally credentialed Medical Doctor Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (US Navy/Federal).

  • 12 years of relevant experience.

  • Active Secret security clearance.

  • Expertise in LIMDU and IDES processes.

  • Familiarity with directives and policies from Defense Health Agency Headquarters Marine Corps Health Services and BUMED.

  • 2 years experience at a MARFOR and/or Combatant Command-level staff.

  • Strong understanding of Componency and interrelationships between MARCENT CENTCOM and HQMC staffs.

  • Knowledge of Middle Eastern geopolitical religious and ethnic dynamics.

  • Valid U.S. passport and availability for short-notice overseas travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with BSO 27 medical planning for operational and exercise support.

  • Prior service on USCENTCOM (Combatant Command) and MARCENT (MARFOR) level staffs.

  • Familiarity with USMC force deployments to the CENTCOM AORboth historical and planned.

  • Retired or reserve field-grade officer.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $112450.00 - $203275.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity alignment with market data applicable bargaining agreement (if any) or other law.
