The heart of Boston Ballet is the human experience. Boston Ballet School is seeking part-time faculty to serve as ambassadors for the Boston Ballet School in our Boston Newton and/or Brookline studios. The function of the faculty member is to ensure positive communication and interaction with all students parents teachers and all other constituents. Faculty will fulfill their role as primary point of contact with its customers by positively implementing curriculum and marketing the school and its programs by following the school syllabus with consistency and enthusiasm demonstrating a concern for all students without favoritism and providing the highest quality and level of professional training while nurturing the love and appreciation of this art form.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach assigned classes consistent with designed curriculum.
  • During work hours respond to all internal-facing emails (ex. an email from a colleague) within two business days of receiving.
  • During work hours respond to all external-facing emails (ex. an email from a parent) within three business days of receiving.
  • Arrive to the building at least fifteen minutes before class begins and arrive to your studio with students at least five minutes before class begins.
  • Class preparation and consistent communication with school BB staff and co-teaching colleagues.
  • Stage choreograph or rehearse assigned repertoire for student presentations/performances as needed and assigned.
  • Attend all faculty meetings curriculum meetings and professional development seminars as scheduled.
  • Make accommodations for students in Adaptive-specific classes to ensure individual participation goals are met.
  • Maintain positive relations with parents and students from all BBS and CEP programs through email phone parent/teacher conferences and other in-person communications.
  • Make oneself available for promotional events including but not limited to radio television and newspaper interviews including the taking of and use of photos for publicity purposes. And allow the use of ones name and title in printed and other materials.
  • Support community engagement and special events through participation at Open Houses Curriculum nights Spring Showcase master classes and other events as requested.
  • Be available for student/parent conferences when needed.
  • If teaching offsite adhere to the guidelines of the school partner site including but not limited to attendance grading and dismissal.
  • Perform all other duties appropriate to part-time faculty as requested.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of experience teaching classical ballet technique.
  • Previous career as a professional dancer considered a strong plus.
  • Sensitivity and caring attitude toward children and a strong interest in understanding how children learn and helping them love the art of ballet.
  • Flexibility positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Must be available to teach weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
