The DOC at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Laurel Highlands has a unique opportunity for a Corrections Utility Plant Operator to not only maintain critical boiler functions but also lead a work crew of inmates learning the same tasks. As a Utility Plant Operator you will perform manual and skilled mechanical work in the operation maintenance and repair of a boiler plant at SCI Laurel Highlands. In addition to performing these duties you will oversee and direct inmates assigned to this work crew. Our boiler operations include steam hot water chilled water or electricity. Key job functions include monitoring boiler plant systems and making adjustments to ensure proper operation; keeping accurate records of fuel consumption and steam hot water or chilled water production; and recommending changes to procedures or equipment to increase plant efficiency.
