Title: Guest Engagement Coordinator

Division: Education & Engagement

Reports to: Director of Guest Engagement

Position Status: Full-time; Exempt

Salary: $38000/year


Position summary:

In addition to the duties of a Guest Engagement Associate (GEA) which include staffing museum entry desks creating a welcoming environment for all museum guests assisting with daily operations and sales in the Museum Store and providing excellent customer service the Guest Engagement Coordinator will provide leadership for the GEAs working under the direction of the Director of Guest Engagement. In this role the Coordinator will assist with scheduling training accessibility initiatives CRM (Tessitura) maintenance and updates and attendance reporting and will direct the GEA team when the Director of Guest Engagement is not present. Additional duties will consist of supporting public programs and events working with the Retail Coordinator to assist with Museum Store initiatives as needed and other duties for the Education & Engagement division as assigned.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Staffing museum entry desks creating a welcoming environment for all museum guests and providing excellent customer service
  • Assist with scheduling training accessibility initiatives CRM maintenance and updates and attendance reporting
  • Direct the GEA team when the Director of Guest Engagement is not present
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills & Abilities Necessary:

  • Must be responsible flexible punctual and able to work well under pressure
  • Must possess excellent communication skills knowledge of Microsoft Office and an interest in Virginia history
  • Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time retrieving merchandise that can weigh up to 30 pounds and the ability to work weekends holidays and select special events

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Retail and point of sale experience preferred
