The Coordinator of Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives serves in a critical leadership role and provides direct supervision of these content areas. The K12 The Coordinator of Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives is responsible for providing visionary leadership and coordination for a diverse portfolio of content areas including Health and Physical Education Visual and Performing Arts World Languages and other elective programming across K12 schools. This role provides direct support to building administrators to support and enhance skill development in K-12 Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas. This individual ensures that all instructional programs in these areas are aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs) foster student engagement promote wellness and creativity and provide equitable access to high-quality learning experiences. The coordinator collaborates with teachers administrators and community partners to support innovation enrichment and academic achievement through robust and inclusive Coordinator of Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives ensures the successful implementation of the Virginia Standards of Learning LCS LOGs and division-wide instructional practices and initiatives by monitoring instructional quality coordinating professional learning and supporting division-level staff principals and teachers in achieving growth targets in efforts to close the achievement gap for all students. The Coordinator of Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives Instruction provides instructional leadership curriculum guidance and professional development to support high-quality teaching and learning in Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas throughout K-12 grade levels.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serve as the divisions content expert and liaison for Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives with state agencies regional networks and community partners.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify instructional strengths gaps and trends; use this analysis to inform curriculum adjustments and targeted supports.
  • Lead the development implementation and revision of K12 Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives and other exploratory courses.
  • Design and coordinate common formative assessments and performance tasks to monitor progress and inform instruction in Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electivescontent areas.
  • Collaborate with school administrators to monitor classroom instruction set improvement goals and provide targeted instructional coaching with administrators.
  • Create and monitor professional learning opportunities to ensure consistent support for K-12 Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas teachers through data-informed collaboration and instructional follow-up.
  • Support new teachers and long-term substitutes in understanding curriculum expectations and instructional priorities.
  • Supervise programs effectively to support instructional goals equitable access to diverse materials and curriculum alignment.
  • Lead professional learning for stakeholders focused on supporting skill development research practices and information aligned with state standards in these content areas.
  • Serve as the division lead for all K12 Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas related initiatives projects and partnerships (including grants programs and community outreach).
  • Participate in the review and adoption process for instructional materials and digital tools aligned to K12 Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas standards.
  • Support new teacher induction efforts specific to Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with school-based teams to design and implement intervention strategies for students performing below grade level in Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas.
  • Facilitate and support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in using data and curriculum resources to improve instructional practices.
  • Stay current with state and national trends research and legislation impacting Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas instruction.
  • Support school leaders in monitoring and strengthening Health/PE Arts World Languages and Electives content areas instruction through walkthroughs coaching conversations and collaborative planning.
  • Coordinate division-wide PL days grade-band PLCs and ongoing job-embedded coaching to build teacher capacity in high quality instruction scaffolding and academic discourse.
  • Ensure all required professional learning is completed and that teachers receive targeted support aligned with instructional walkthrough and assessment data.
  • Coordinate division-wide instructional walkthroughs focused on improving instruction and practices across content areas.
  • Collaborate with administrators to develop and monitor school-level improvement plans tied to walkthrough data and assessment outcomes.
  • Collaborate on the Teaching and Learning division website with the division-level team to provide teachers and administrators with ongoing access to instructional resources model lessons and assessment tools.
  • Collaborate with SPED EL and Gifted teams to ensure instructional supports are differentiated and accessible for all students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Valid Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in Health/PE Arts World Languages and/or Electives content area(s) and/ or Administration & Supervision.
  • Masters degree or higher in a Content Area Curriculum & Instruction and/or Educational Leadership.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience with demonstrated success in instructional leadership and teacher supervision.
  • Expertise in adolescent development instructional planning and professional learning facilitation.
  • Experience supervising instructional staff instructional coaching and managing cross-department collaboration.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively and cooperatively with students teachers administrators division-level staff and parents/guardians in providing the best possible educational environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Travel within the City of Lynchburg as needed.
  • Travel for Professional Learning conferences and training as needed.
