Job Description

Overview

i3 is seeking a Senior Technologist to provide deep subject matter expertise in Army Aviation systems integration Modular Open Systems Approaches (MOSA) and avionics architecture. This role requires strategic foresight technical depth and exceptional stakeholder engagement across military academic and industry partners. The successful candidate will act as a senior technology advisor shaping organizational growth cross-domain innovation and advanced integration strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of technical professionals in delivering complex aviation integration efforts.
  • Serve as the organizations MOSA Subject Matter Expert (SME) guiding open systems implementation across multiple DoD stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic input on partnerships lab development and program alignment.
  • Develops performance objectives and determines acceptable performance levels.
  • Provide technical oversight of system-level avionics architectures and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) strategies.
  • Monitor ever-changing technological landscape of current customer markets and target customer markets and provide strategic guidance.
  • Represent i3 in engagements with ASA(ALT) PM offices and industry consortia.
  • Work with i3 leadership for development of growth strategies through technological expertise over a span of DoD disciplines.
  • Develop and implement technological advancement plans for i3 Team Members.
  • Guide proposal development using firsthand experience in digital backbones ATO-accredited labs and software integration platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 30 years of relevant DoD experience required.
  • Active DoD security clearance and the ability to maintain a clearance required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Extensive leadership experience in establishing and scaling aviation laboratories.
  • Proven success in MOSA implementation enterprise architecture development and cross-organizational collaboration.
  • Strong business development and technical proposal skills.
  • Effective ability to communicate across senior leadership technical teams and industry forums.
  • Proficient in project management acquisition strategy and digital engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster innovation through partnerships and strategic technology insertion.
  • Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Be energized by a fast-paced work environment.
  • Analyze information and respond appropriately.
  • Manage time wisely and prioritize tasks.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday however additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
