As an instructor for the Department of Nursing a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) is responsible for developing and delivering course content while facilitating hands-on clinical training for nursing students. They assess student performance provide mentorship and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the nursing programs effectiveness and alignment with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver instructional materials for nursing courses ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives.
- Teach and facilitate hands-on clinical training guiding students in practical nursing skills and patient care practices.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through examinations clinical evaluations and feedback sessions.
- Provide mentorship and support to nursing students fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance program effectiveness and student success.
- Stay current with advancements in nursing practices and educational methodologies to inform teaching strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation ensuring compliance with departmental policies.
- Participate in program development accreditation processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance instructional skills.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) provides clinical support at Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) including but not limited to San Antonio-area medical facilities. Key responsibilities include:
- Observing assessing recording and reporting patient symptoms and responses to treatment.
- Administering medications and prescribed treatments in accordance with established protocols.
- Assisting physicians during examinations minor procedures and patient care activities.
- Monitoring patient conditions identifying abnormal findings and initiating emergency interventions as appropriate.
- Utilizing medical equipment such as EKG machines cardiac monitors and defibrillators.
- Participating in emergency code response teams including initiation of life-saving measures in the absence of a physician.
- Documenting all patient care and interactions manually and/or electronically in accordance with SAMMC standards.
- Supporting graduate medical education and contributing to high-quality patient care for active-duty service members and their families.

Qualifications :
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Must possess and maintain a current active unrestricted LVN license from any U.S. state District of Columbia or U.S. territory.
- Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred and may be required depending on the clinical setting.
- Minimum of one year of LVN experience within the past three years in a relevant clinical specialty.

- Ability to stand walk lift and bend for extended periods.
- May be exposed to contagious diseases radiation and high-stress environments.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.
Additional Information :
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
Compensation Min: $18hr Max: $50hr
