Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)

Salary: 35000 - 40000 London Weighting (5319) depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.


Location: Office Base is London Television Centre. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

THE ROLE

As a Product Designer at BBC StoryWorks your role will blend visual design with front-end creative production. You will play a key role in designing and building engaging digital experiences using Webflow and Figma. Working closely with marketing editorial and technical teams you will bring content to life through intuitive design systems scalable component libraries and highly polished web builds.

Responsibilities

  • Webflow Production: Build and maintain high-quality Webflow sites ensuring brand alignment robust functionality responsive layouts and smooth interactions across devices.


  • Figma File Creation & Maintenance: Develop structure and maintain design files in Figma using components variants and shared libraries to support scalable design systems and seamless developer handover.


  • CMS Visual Design: Support in the enhancement of the front-end look and feel of our in-house CMS article and hub pages focusing on usability accessibility and visual coherence.


  • Ad-product Asset Creation: Support the design of custom ad-products using Celtra ensuring assets are visually engaging and technically feasible.


  • Innovation & Craft: Champion clean accessible design and efficient processes identifying opportunities to improve our workflows or creative outputs.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA;

  • Webflow Expertise: Confident building high-quality responsive websites in Webflow with a strong understanding of CMS collections interactions and layout best practices.


  • Understanding of Web Technologies: Awareness of HTML/CSS principles to support realistic design decisions and collaboration with developers.


  • Figma Proficiency: Advanced skills in Figma including the use of components variants auto layout shared libraries and design systems to create scalable consistent files.


  • Visual Design Skills: Demonstrated ability to produce polished creative and user-friendly digital designs with a strong grasp of typography layout and visual hierarchy.


  • Attention to Detail: Careful craftsmanship in delivering assets checking responsiveness and applying accessibility and usability standards.


  • Portfolio Evidence: A strong portfolio of Webflow sites and interface design work demonstrating creative problem-solving and visual polish.


  • Relevant Experience: Background in digital or product design front-end production or creative web development roles.



DESIRABLE CRITERIA;

  • Motion & Interaction Design: Familiarity with creating micro-interactions or animations in After Effects.


  • Design File Management: Organised methodical approach to structuring files using naming conventions clear layer hierarchies and documentation to support developer handover.


  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong communicator with experience presenting ideas and working closely with cross-functional teams including designers editors marketers and developers.


  • Celtra or Ad Tools Experience: Experience designing for rich media ad platforms like Celtra Google Web Designer or similar.
