We are poised for significant growth and looking for a results-driven Director to lead our Sales and Business Development strategy toward ambitious new goals.
Position Summary
The Director of Sales/Business Development Companion Animal will be responsible for leading and scaling Van Beeks companion animal sales team from $5.8M to $10M in revenue over the next four years. This role combines high-level strategy and hands-on leadership with a dual focus on building a high-performing sales organization and securing enterprise-level partnerships with veterinary corporate practice groups and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).
You will coach and develop the Sales Manager establish and refine sales systems and processes and directly contribute to business development initiatives that drive growth across the veterinary market.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Coaching
Provide leadership and mentorship to the Sales Manager and broader sales team to ensure skill development goal attainment and performance consistency.
Implement sales systems processes and performance metrics that support scalability and repeatable success.
Collaborate with marketing product and operations teams to ensure alignment of go-to-market strategies and customer engagement.
Business Development
Identify pursue and close strategic partnerships with corporate veterinary practices hospital groups and GPOs.
Own the business development pipeline and lead complex negotiations with enterprise prospects to secure national or regional agreements.
Attend key industry events and conferences to represent the brand and cultivate strategic relationships.
Strategic Planning & Execution
Develop and manage a multi-year sales growth plan aligned with the companys revenue goals.
Forecast track and report sales performance to executive leadership.
Identify market trends customer needs and competitive movements to refine strategy and product positioning.
Qualifications
7 years of experience in sales or business development preferably in the veterinary animal health or natural supplement space
3 years of experience in a leadership or director-level role with demonstrated team-building success
Proven ability to close complex multi-stakeholder deals in a B2B or enterprise setting
Experience working with or selling into corporate veterinary practice groups and/or GPOs is highly preferred
Strong command of CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce) sales operations and performance analytics
Excellent communication negotiation and relationship management skills
Success Metrics
Achievement of annual and long-term revenue targets ($10M in 4 years)
Effective onboarding and upskilling of the sales team to execute against growth plans
Acquisition of new corporate practice groups and GPO partnerships
Operational sales systems fully implemented and adopted by team
Consistent deal flow and strategic growth in key veterinary markets
