SUMMARY
Intervenes and diffuses potentially volatile situations with students and youth within the Tucson Unified School District and the community. Patrols district schools sites and adjacent areas to protect students staff and equipment and property from criminal activity responds to security alarms and calls for assistance. Supervises campus security positions at the site level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in criminal justice social sciences or related field
OR
Four years experience in law enforcement juvenile investigations or child social work.
And the following:
2 years supervisory experience
Training in conflict or crisis resolution/mediation with youth.
Experience in public speaking.
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend
written/graphic and oral instructions.
Must be willing and able to carry and use all security weapons to include a firearm.
Ability to work occasional overtime and/or extended duty hours due to the need to cover large scale security emergency or other unforeseen events.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current or former Law Enforcement or Corrections certification.
Teaching experience to include instructor certification through an approved Law Enforcement or Corrections instructor certification.
Bilingual- Spanish
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check
Proof of immunity to rubella (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization.
Physical Examination with Lift Test to be done by one of the clinics with which the District contracts (Category B) and sign a Medical History form
Must be able to become TUSD bicycle certified.
CPR and First Aid Certification - Certification must be maintained current during course of employment
Valid Drivers license (Arizona Drivers Licenserequiredwithin 30 days of hire)
MVReport showing no more than the allowable points against Drivers License as described underGoverning Board Policy: EEB-R-1Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
