For information on salary and benefits offered please visit goals for the duallanguageprogram are to develop high levels of proficiency in Spanish and English in all students that they all attain the WA state Seal of Biliteracy that all students achieve grade-level academic standards in English and Spanish and to develop sociocultural competence.

This teacher works cooperatively with a grade level teachers and specialists other staff and administrators to develop and implement school-wide simultaneous literacy strategies through team-teaching collaborative planning groups and best practice based on research and data analysis. The teacher and their grade level team will work closely with building staff to plan and implement professional development opportunities that are aligned with student growth models assist with the management of formative assessments and support the implementation of district curriculum materials bilingual unit frameworks and strategies school-wide.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Valid Washington State teachers certificate with endorsement in Elementary Education
  2. Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish (Must pass STAMP test)
  3. Satisfactory evaluations

Qualifications Preferred:

  1. Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles documented by evaluations and/or references from former colleagues and supervisors.
  2. Evidence of maintaining a positive productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues documented by evaluations and/or references from former colleagues and supervisors.
  3. Evidence of recent successful elementary teaching experience with culturally diverse children documented by evaluations and/or references from former colleagues and supervisors.
  4. Evidence of recent (within last 5 years) course work in areas of reading/language arts social skills and science.
  5. Evidence of successful communication with school staff parents and students.
  6. Training and/or experience in the use of GLAD.
  7. Training the use of the ClearMath Series.
  8. Training in the use of Benchmark Advance and/or Adelante Reading Curriculum
  9. Training and/or experience in the use of the Biliteracy Unit Frameworks (BUFs).
  10. Training and experience (or willingness to attend such trainings) in simultaneous bilingual teaching (English/Spanish).
  11. Experience working effectively with a broad range of ability levels using RTI model and expectations.
  12. The ability to work as a team member in planning curriculum development grade level responsibilities and building responsibilities.
  13. Training and/or experience in utilizing technology as instructional tool.
  14. Training and/or experience in administering various types of assessment tools WIDA and STAR performance assessments using a rubric etc.
  15. Experience and/or training teaching writing to elementary level students.
  16. Punctual and consistent attendance.

Job Description:

  1. Work specifically to prepare students for Building District and State assessments.
  2. Prepare class assignments and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  3. Provide an effective program of instruction in accordance with the schoolsbilingual unit frameworks and curricularmaterials by teaching each program with fidelity.
  4. Use of Purpose Engagement Rigor and Results (PERR) in daily planning and instruction.
  5. Be a team player by establishing and maintaining cooperative accountable professional relationships with others.
  6. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students parents and colleagues.
  7. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and the facilities.
  8. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.
  9. Attend and participate in faculty in-service trainings and various committee meetings.
  10. Attend and participate in one assignedschool committees.
  11. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals objectives and methods.
  12. Establish and maintain cooperative and positive professional relationships with other members.
  13. Encourage parent involvement participate in parent involvement activitiesschool holds and maintain good relationships with parents.
  14. Explore and implement different curriculum and teaching strategies as identified through building/grade level adoption process.
  15. Value a multicultural school population; work well with students and parents of different cultures.
  16. Support district and building goals by participating in planning training implementing and evaluating effectiveness of programs grants and curriculum and teaching methodologies that school participates in. (Curriculum Adoptions biliteracy training GLAD etc).
  17. Assess students in reading math and writing as directed by the district and school assessment plans.
  18. Provide specific reading remediation asdetermined by assessment tools.
  19. Be flexible in schedule changes to accommodate other staff and community faculty usage.
  20. Take responsibility for maintaining good classroom management.
  21. Work collaboratively with paraeducators and other teachers to devise appropriate instruction for all students.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

Sense:The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision far vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Lifting:The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

Physical Hazards:While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F . The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.

**COMPLETION OFSAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASEDTRAINING IS REQUIRED AS ACONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**

Application Procedure: In-District staffmust complete an internal online application by10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date.In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period the position will be offered to the qualified most senior in-district applicant if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
