Job Description

Reports To: Director for GT and Advanced Academics

Duty Days: 238 Days

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: I03

Date Updated: 08/2024

Qualifications:

Masters degree preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Five years G/T teaching experience

Minimum of 30 hours of G/T training

Strong organizational & communication skills

Thorough understanding of the needs and sensitivity of gifted students

Familiar with TEA rules and guidelines for G/T

Secondary teaching experience required

Dual Credit experience preferred

Primary Purpose:

Provide leadership in Gifted and Talented and Advanced Academic services by demonstrating expertise in the following areas: staff development identification and assessment social and emotional support for gifted students program evaluation and parent and community involvement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as an advocate for gifted and talented and advanced academics programming at the secondary level to include: GT KAP Advanced Placement and Dual Credit.
  2. Serve as a trainer/facilitator in coordinating the district G/T staff development programs as related to servicing the needs of gifted students in the secondary environment.
  3. Plan facilitate/present and evaluate G/T staff development programs for campuses and/or for district.
  4. Respond to campus administrative parent and other district requests regarding GT and Advanced Academic services.
  5. Serve as a liaison between the district GT office and Secondary GT Facilitators.
  6. Serve as a liaison between the institutions of higher education (IHE) and high school campuses regarding issues pertaining to dual credit.
  7. Serve on campus/district committees as assigned.
  8. Provide constructive feedback on the effectiveness of the secondary G/T program and assist in program evaluations as needed.
  9. Lead/facilitate secondary G/T meetings.
  10. Assist in dual credit related activities such as monitor and maintain records for dual credit facilitate teacher credentialing and assist with parent student and community education outreach.
  11. Serve on G/T Parent Advisory Groups as assigned.
  12. Prepare GT/AAS documentation reports and compliance paperwork as assigned

Equipment Used:

Personal computer copier and printer.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations; moderate lifting and carrying.
