Purpose:To work directly with Life Skills/TLC staff at the district and campus level to provide training and support to teachers working with low incidence populations. Contribute to students academic functional and behavioral progress and post-secondary goals.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate as a Special Education Teacher
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong knowledge in working with students with a cognitive deficit and behavior problems
- Knowledge of federal and state special education rules and regulations
- Strong knowledge in Community Based Instruction and Community Based Vocational Instruction
- Strong knowledge and experience in administrating STAAR Alternate
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organization skills along with strong written and oral communication skills
- Supportive of district and department initiatives
- Able to interact with diverse groups of professionals and individuals
- Proficient in use of digital tools including Google Suite Microsoft 365 ARD/IEP Software and Learning Management Systems
Experience:
- Three (3) or more years experience working with low incidence populations
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Collaborate with Life Skills/TLC staff to implement critical classroom components including classroom organization schedules positive behavior supports curricular alignment with state standards planning/instruction and communication.
- Provide supplemental training as well as coaching and modeling for teachers who administer alternate state assessments.
- Support teacher and paraprofessional knowledge of teaching and learning processes by coaching/modeling expectations and research-based practices as it applies to:
- Instructional Practices for the low incidence population
- Behavioral supports and interventions
- Classroom schedules systems routines and procedures
- Data Collection for academic and behavior performance
- External and visual supports
- Communication
- Alternate curriculum
- Assist in preparation for Annual Review and Dismissal meetings through the development of a PLAAFP and IEPs.
- Assist Life Skills/TLC Coordinators with ongoing staff development for teachers and paraprofessionals.
- Travel among schools to observe instruction and provide feedback to maximize student achievement.
- Meet district department and team deadlines.
- Communicate in a professional manner with district campus department and community members.
- Promote a positive work environment for all districts campus department and community members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.

- Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

Posture: Standing prolonged sitting occasional kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing pulling and twisting

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

This position will receive a $4000 Behavior stipend Experience: * 3 years or more working with low incidence populations * leadership experience.
Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
