Job Description

Special Education Teacher RI Transition Academy Part TimeWarwick RIWork Year RequirementsPart-time throughout the academic year two to three days per week (185 days) depending on the number of students; possibility of summer programmingResponsibilitiesInstructionParticipate in the development of and implementation of Transition Assessment Activities and measurement (data) systems to improve student outcomes and provide demonstrations of best practice in transitionDevelop lesson plans and provide direct instruction in a variety of transition areas including but not limited to functional academics organization life skills and self-advocacyDevelop lesson plans for practical community experiences to enhance the learning of lessons being taught in the classroom (Transition Facilitators will carry out these plans)IEP OversightOversee IEPs of students to ensure goals are being metAttend IEP meetingsComplete quarterly reportsGeneralObserve and record student performanceMaintain ongoing communication with school personnel and family regarding student progressWork with other Academy staff to assist students in meeting their goalsSubmit required reportsOther tasks as assignedSupervisionThe Transition Academy Teacher works as a member of a team but reports to the Transition Academy Coordinator and the Director of Transition and Vocational Services
