Position Summary

The University of Denver Sturm College of Law seeks to hire one or more visiting faculty members at the level of Assistant Associate or full Professor for one or both semesters of the 2025-26 academic year. We seek candidates with J.D. degrees (or their equivalent) exceptional academic records relevant professional experience and a commitment to outstanding innovative and inclusive classroom teaching. Although candidates across a range of subject matter areas are invited to apply we anticipate needs in the areas of Business Law International Human Rights Law Externships Lawyering Process and other potential subject matter areas.

Essential Functions

Faculty members at the Sturm College of Law are expected to engage in outstanding and innovative teaching imparting relevant doctrinal knowledge and professional skills and cultivating an inclusive learning environment.

Work Schedule

While the Universitys administrative offices are open Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught service commitments and research agendas. The Universitys academic calendars are posted on the registrars website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Salary Grade Number

The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $50000-$60000.

For applicants who are not currently serving on the faculty of another higher educational institution the anticipated title would be Visiting Assistant Professor of Law with an associated salary range of $50000-$60000 per semester. Candidates who are not currently serving on the faculty of another higher educational institution whose qualifications and experience counsel for appointment at a different rank will be eligible for such an appointment and for commensurately higher compensation.

For applicants who are currently serving on the faculty of another higher educational institution the anticipated title would be commensurate with a candidates experience and payment would presumptively be made through an inter-institutional agreement with the applicants home institution covering the applicants salary and benefits.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
