Job Title:Senior Accountant II

Location: Syracuse NY
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant II position will report directly to the Director of Finance. It will concentrate efforts on General Ledger accounting activities and Financial Statement preparation. This role will assist in effectively maintaining existing processes and making recommendations for process improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts for control and accuracy with a focus on inventory
- Handle month-end closing entries including accruals depreciation expense prepaid lease entries adjustments and reclassifications; make recommendations based on analysis
- Respond to requests from internal and external customers/vendors
- Support audit requests
- Implementation of best practices outlining process improvements and policies and procedures
- Assist with balance sheet management and preparation of monthly financial statements according to GAAP
- Prepare and distribute monthly departmental expenditure reports for management
- Oversee vendor setup process to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Additional duties as assigned
Experience and Education Required:
- Minimum experience of 3-5 years
- BS Degree in Accounting
- Must be proficient in Accounting systems database management and spreadsheet applications
