BUSINESS FUNCTION: Customer & Commercial
GRADE: ML2/SB1
SALARY:per annum
ROLE TYPE: Hybrid (approx. 3 days in the office 2 days at home with a requirement to visit sites across the network as and when required).

Now were looking for an experienced and qualified Fire Safety & Risk Manager to take ownership of this crucial area of the business.

This is your opportunity to be Northerns subject matter expert on fire safety shaping policies leading audits supporting projects and influencing strategic decisionsmaking a tangible impact across the organisation.

What youll be doing:

In this vital leadership role you will:

  • Lead the strategic development of fire safety arrangements across all business operations and change initiatives ensuring legal compliance and best practice.
  • Provide specialist guidance to engineering property and project teamsreviewing fire strategies risk assessments and emergency evacuation plans.
  • Deliver and oversee the Fire Safety Management System Plan (SMSP) ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and operational assurance.
  • Champion fire risk management by coaching training and upskilling teams across the business embedding a proactive and risk-based safety culture.
  • Act as a key internal and external liaison representing Northern in safety meetings audits investigations and industry forums.

About You:

Were seeking a confident and experienced fire safety professional who brings:

  • A degree or Level 5 Diploma in Fire Engineering and membership of IFE (e.g. MIFireE AIFireE GIFireE).
  • In-depth knowledge of fire safety legislation and standards (e.g. BS 9992:2020 RRFSO BSA PAS 79-1:2020).
  • Proven ability to lead audits investigations and strategy development in complex safety-critical environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to balance risk compliance and operational priorities.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office and SharePoint to manage documentation plans and reports.
