  • Full-time Continuing position

  • Salary HEW 6 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About The Position


The Technical Officer: Gold & Silversmithing is a member of the DSC Facilities and Technical Services team responsible for delivering specialised technical support and expertise to staff and students across the Colleges diverse programs research initiatives projects events and exhibitions. This role primarily supports Gold & Silversmithing activities within the School of Art as well as other areas of the College.

The Technical Officer is expected to stay up to date with industry developments and provide innovative solutions to the complex challenges inherent in the creative arts. They will ensure that specialist facilities are maintained to the highest standards complying with all relevant policies and legislation. Specific duties will be reviewed and agreed upon annually with the Manager Technical Services as part of the Universitys work planning process.

To be successful in this position youll have:

high level of technical knowledge and expertise in the area of Gold & Silversmithing.

2.Well-developed communication skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of learning and staff cohorts.

3.Demonstrated ability to problem solve and deliver innovative solutions to staff and students.

organisational and time management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks and effective delivery of services.

5.Demonstrated knowledge and application of OH&S legislation and regulations particularly regarding specialist spaces such as studios and workshops.

6.Demonstrated current information technology skills and knowledge.

7.Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively and flexibly as a member of a team and broader community.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
