Location: Near Fareham
Salary: As a serving Police Officer you will transfer on your existing pay point which will be between 29907 - 48231 per annum. The South East Allowance payment of 2000 per annum will also apply.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Intake Dates: October and December 2025

We are looking for a motivated Police Constable or Detective Constable with strong decision making and communication skills to join the Hampshire Surveillance Unit (HSU) as a Surveillance Motorcyclist PC / DC. The position is a high-risk role and so a good level of risk-appreciation will be required alongside effective team work skills and resilience. Working in the Surveillance Unit presents the opportunity to be involved in operations that target some of the highest risk criminals and organised crime groups supporting investigations at all levels.

Key accountabilities for the role include but are not limited to:
1. Attending tasking or planning meetings for operations; giving an experienced overview of the planning aspects and tactical advice of any surveillance operation and ensuring adequate risk assessments (e.g. Firearms) are conducted.
2. To prepare for surveillance operations including ensuring intelligence is accurate e.g. verifying addresses and assessing potential operational issues commanding operations in conjunction with HSU sergeant and briefing team members as necessary.
3. Reconnoitering for and arranging the use of Observation Posts when necessary.
4. To undertake covert surveillance by means of conventional observations foot & mobile surveillance photography and technical/audio/visual techniques to provide intelligence & evidence to assist investigating officers to establish criminal activities.
5. To be conversant with the operation and use of all items of technical surveillance equipment.
6. To maintain effective records of intelligence information & evidence gathered by or during surveillance operations.
7. Attend court and give evidence in accordance with legislation.
