Job Description:

Position Purpose summary:

This position is focused on encouragement and spiritual support to people engaged in Pathway of Hope through Edmonton Crossroads Community Church Ministries.

Accountabilities:

  • Through exercising empathetic care assists individuals in spiritual and wellness goal process as appropriately determined by the leaders.
  • Ensure all clients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Works in cooperation and consultation with the Pathway of Hope Team in problem-solving for the benefit of clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of client information on The Salvation Armys computer system while maintaining confidentiality and providing statistical reports.
  • Track and report payroll time and absence entries.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

Governance Boards and Councils:

Internal: Pathway of Hope Team

External: Community

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position reports directly to the Pathway of Hope Team Lead.
  • Direct reports: none.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

  • Responsibility for the wise use of own resources.
  • May have minor material responsibilities (books brochures etc.)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Location is the Edmonton Crossroads Community Church
  • The incumbent will/may work under the following disagreeable conditions:
    • Work-related stress
    • Dealing with people with challenging behaviour
    • Dealing with Crisis Situations
    • Little travel associated with this position
    • Ability to lift 20 pounds
    • Flexible work schedule to accommodate different types of programming and emergencies

The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Armys Mission Statement in a professional manner exemplifying Christian standards of conduct.

education and experience Qualifications:

Education Qualifications and Certifications:

Completion of High School.

  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Chaplaincy or other related fields is an asset.
  • Safe Food Handling and First Aid/CPR Certifications would be an asset.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset.
  • The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Training Courses.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience required.

Skills and Capabilities (examples provided below):

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Attention to detail problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
  • Understand ethical behaviour and business practices and ensure that own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.
  • Speak listen and write in a clear thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

This is a Casual position at up to 7 hours per month. Schedule will be set between employee and supervisor.
This position requires Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Pay rate is $20/hr.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $18.14 to $22.68 with a maximum of $27.22.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
