About the role:
The Controller will oversee all financial reporting compliance and accounting operations across the company portfolio. This role is ideal for a proactive detail-oriented financial leader who thrives in a multi-entity multi-jurisdictional environment. Youll play a critical role in building scalable systems maintaining regulatory compliance in both Canada and the U.S. and supporting strategic decision-making for our leadership team.

About the role:
The Controller will oversee all financial reporting compliance and accounting operations across the company portfolio. This role is ideal for a proactive detail-oriented financial leader who thrives in a multi-entity multi-jurisdictional environment. Youll play a critical role in building scalable systems maintaining regulatory compliance in both Canada and the U.S. and supporting strategic decision-making for our leadership team.
This role will report into the CEO and be responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Lead all day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger accounts payable/receivable payroll and job costing
- Manage the month-end and year-end close process across multiple operating entities
- Prepare consolidated internal financial reports dashboards and variance analyses
- Maintain accurate intercompany reporting and manage cash flow across entities
- Ensure compliance with Canadian and U.S. accounting standards tax filings and financial regulations
- Support budgeting forecasting and financial planning initiatives
- Liaise with external accountants auditors and advisors in both Canada and the U.S.
- Implement and refine accounting systems controls and processes to support growth
- Oversee and grow a small finance team including bookkeepers and accounting support roles
- CPA designation (or equivalent) with 510 years of experience in a senior accounting or controllership role
- Experience supporting construction HVAC or project-based service businesses preferred
- Strong understanding of both Canadian and U.S. GAAP tax and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to manage accounting across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as QuickBooks Sage or equivalent ERP platforms
- Strong analytical skills attention to detail and a process-driven mindset
- Comfortable working in a dynamic growing company with evolving needs
