Job Description

Location: School of Visual Art and Design
Hours: Full-Time Salary

Job Summary:
The Facilities and Technology Manager provides leadership and oversight for the School of Visual Art and Designs technology infrastructure and studio operations. This position is responsible for planning developing guiding and implementing technology acquisitions as well as managing studio facilities and allocating resources while providing technical support to students and faculty. This position requires expertise in IT systems studio equipment management and supervising a team of student employees to ensure the effective delivery of academic and production services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Information Technology Management:
Studio Management:
  • Oversees operational use and optimization of studio facilities and equipment resources.
  • Leads certification programs for student use of specialized film and media equipment ensuring safety and compliance with departmental standards
  • Provides regular on-site training and supervision of studio personnel
  • Administers the studio equipment reservation and usage tracking system ensuring operational efficiency and resource availability.
  • Collaborates with campus departments to ensure the sound stage space is in good working order and is maintained in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Oversees film equipment inventory maintenance and repair processes.
  • Maintains the departmental studio operations procedures and guidelines manual to ensure clarity compliance and consistency with university-wide policies.
Financial Coordination:
  • Conducts financial analysis for technology acquisitions and budget in cooperation with the dean.
  • Leads research evaluation and implementation of technology and equipment acquisitions.
  • Oversees vendor relationships and manages the whole purchasing cycle for studio and faculty technology equipment ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance.
  • Monitors and tracks return on investment (ROI) for major technology initiatives contributing to continuous improvement in departmental resource planning.
  • Coordinate faculty technology acquisition strategies balancing user needs with budgetary and institutional priorities.
Personnel Management:
  • Supervises student workers for labs studio and IT support
  • Manages work schedules and performance evaluations
  • Provides student training and mentorship
  • Processes student labor assignments and timecard approvals

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology Film/Media Production or related field
  • 3 years of experience in technical support or studio management
  • IT systems administration and networking expertise
  • Knowledge of media production workflows
  • Experience supervising student workers
  • Proficiency in Windows and Mac environments

Special Requirements:
Must have an expressed commitment to Jesus Christ the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and be an SDA church member in good and regular standing.

Typical Physical Demands:
Position requires sitting standing bending and reaching. Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines computers and studio equipment. Normal range of hearing and vision required to perform essential duties.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both office and studio environments. May require evening and weekend hours to support special projects and events. Must be able to work in various environmental conditions including low-light studio spaces and computer lab settings. Some exposure to noise and electrical equipment.
