Course Description:
Com 110: Written Communication offers instruction in formal academic writing focused on the most frequently assigned academic genres. Students will create compelling arguments to support a claim engage a variety of rhetorical situations analyze secondary sources utilize appropriate style guides and implement instructor and peer feedback.
The course is designed to develop reading and writing skills that will transfer into any field of study preparing students to analyze and address the different kinds of writing they will encounter in the university and later in their careers. This course will consider the rhetorical situations of various texts (i.e. the relationship between a texts audience purpose and genre) to lay a foundation in critical thinking skills and college-level writing.
