Job Description

Description

This Senior Chemist position in our Coil division within the Site Support group will be responsible for a variety of exciting activities related to troubleshooting stabilizing and correcting external customer complaints batch problems from manufacturing and quality related endeavors. This position will be based in the Pittsburgh Coil Facility and will be reporting to remote management.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future including conversion to H-1B visa.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for investigating and resolving customer complaints for Coil High-Performance products through prioritizing executing and analysis of experiments and tests with clear and accurate results.
  • Providing timely and accurate data to help resolve field complaints raw material issues manufacturing problems and support existing and new product development.
  • Interact with customers both internally and externally on technical projects.
  • Display a basic working knowledge of the use of chemicals raw materials substrate preparation and use instruments commonly found in a lab environment.
  • Responsible for inputting data data analysis and technical documentation daily into lab books or a database.
  • Functioning under minimal supervision and will lead individual or group projects.
  • Serve as a technical resource for all Coil and Spray applied projects.
  • Utilizing advanced technologies to innovatively troubleshoot issues which consumer can perceive and will desire.
  • Perform basic paint making processes to meet manufactures specifications.
  • Perform basic coating reformulations applications and physical/performance testing methods.
  • Experience with solvent-borne and water-borne acrylic alkyd epoxy and urethane chemistries
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills


Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
  • Bachelors degree in a Science Technology Engineering or Math field.
  • 5 years of coatings experience in an industrial setting.
  • Computer knowledge for basic inputting communication and data analysis.
  • Experience working with DOE Minitab Product Vision Navigator Microsoft Access Excel Word and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in STEM field
  • 5-7 years of industrial coatings/ formulation experience
  • Experience working with products and technologies including but not limited to 1K 2K primer basecoat and clearcoat systems both solvent based and waterborne
  • Project leadership experience. Proven track record in successfully leading small project teams
  • Demonstrated ability applying structure-property relationships to achieve project goals.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills including root-cause analysis.

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
