Job Description
Essential Functions
Supervises employees including selecting or recommending selection training assigning and evaluating work counseling disciplining and/or termination or recommending termination Plans assigns and supervises the work of technically skilled and administrative employees in the Section Develops and implements contractor safety strategic plans that align with WSSC Waters mission and goals making a tangible impact on our community Manages and mentors a team of safety professionals and consultants providing technical guidance driving a culture of caring while promoting continuous improvement Serves as key liaison with internal teams external agencies and contractors building strong relationships and ensuring seamless communication Oversees the safety aspects of the Commissions programs ensuring adherence to regulations and implementing innovative solutions to mitigate risks Creates and maintains engaging safety incentive programs and promotes clear communication regarding safety topics fostering a positive safety culture Prepares budget justifications for the construction safety program ensuring efficient resource allocation Provides strategic direction and oversight for all construction and electrical safety programs establishing and driving short- and long-term safety initiatives Ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations; ensures accuracy of data with regards to safety noise heat stress and other occupational hazards using recognized sampling and software management systems Manages staff and monitors program progress Builds and maintains strong working relationships with employees across the Commission external contractors and representatives from diverse organizations Drives departmental personnel operations by facilitating the growth and development of departmental personnel through strategic hiring supervision and training initiatives Contributes to the overall success of the Occupational Safety and Health department by completing special assignments and projects as requested by the Director Drives a WSSC Water issued vehicle to conduct business
Work Schedule
Monday -Friday 8hrs weekend and emergency hours as needed
