SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER - Technology & Information Services
Classification: Classified - 260 day calendar
Reports to: Senior Director of Network and Systems
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design implementation and optimization of the organizations network infrastructure. This position ensures that network systems are secure efficient and scalable supporting the organizations operational needs. The Senior Network Engineer will lead efforts to upgrade and manage network systems troubleshoot complex network issues and collaborate with IT teams to integrate solutions that improve overall performance and security.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
2. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar certifications are preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or network operations.
4. Proven experience with large-scale network infrastructures including routers switches firewalls and VPNs.
5. Experience in network security performance optimization and troubleshooting complex network
6. Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP DNS DHCP BGP OSPF) and network design principles.
7. Expertise in network security including VPNs firewalls intrusion detection/prevention and secure network access.
8. Proficient with network management tools for monitoring troubleshooting and optimizing network performance.
9. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues quickly and effectively.
10. Strong communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and providing technical support to non-technical stakeholders.

9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators students and district staff as directed.
10. Ability to lift carry or transport up to 40 pounds.
11. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
12. Provide own transportation to numerous settings within a flexible work schedule that may include evenings and occasional travel and overnight stays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Advanced Network Design & Implementation: Design configure and implement secure scalable and high-performance network infrastructure to support current and future organizational needs.
2. Infrastructure Optimization & Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and continuous improvement of network performance reliability and scalability through proactive monitoring and regular upgrades.
3. Issue Resolution & Escalation Support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues serve as a point of escalation for junior engineers and ensure timely restoration of services.
4. Security & Compliance Oversight: Implement and maintain advanced network security measures. Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies related to access data protection and risk management.
5. Project Leadership: Lead or co-lead network infrastructure projects including new deployments migrations and system integrations ensuring projects meet performance and security expectations.
6. Collaboration & Cross-Team Support: Work with systems security and software teams to ensure integrated infrastructure services across the organization.
7. Monitoring & Reporting: Analyze network performance data and provide reports on trends usage and issues. Recommend improvements and long-term planning strategies.
8. Vendor & Tool Management: Evaluate implement and manage network tools and vendors ensuring tools meet organizational requirements and vendor support is effective.
9. Mentorship & Team Development: Provide guidance training and mentoring to Junior Network Engineers. Promote best practices and technical growth within the team.
10. Documentation & Standards Management: Maintain accurate documentation for network architecture configurations and procedures. Establish and refine standards for network support and deployment.
