Summary: The BJB Foundation(BJB) in collaboration with the MED13L Foundation (MED13L) seeks a passionate and driven Executive Director to lead our organizations growth and advance our mission of supporting research for MED13L Syndrome.
Position Overview: The Executive Director will play a crucial role in driving the foundations development implementing strategic goals and overseeing day-to-day operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to grow professionally alongside the Foundations expansion.
Key Focus Areas:
Fund Development:
- Strategic planning and meeting sales/fundraising goals.
- Sustaining existing and building new corporate partnerships and revenue support through participating in and leading top-level cultivation strategies and engagements.
- Cultivating major donors securing large corporate sponsorships and identifying and securing foundation gifts.
- Provide strong individual support to Do It Yourself (DIY) donors.
- Maintain and grow current annual giving strategies.
Operations:
- Collaborate with the bookkeeper to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donations received and payments made.
- Build and lead an effective team that is dedicated to fulfilling the organizations mission through highly successful programs community engagement and fundraisers.
- Provide strategic leadership and hands-on management for administrative and operational functions of the organization.
- Ensure all back-end operational systems are up to date relevant and scalable for the organization.
Program and Community Engagement:
- Work with the Director of Research to develop content for education and engagement for both scientific and caregiver audiences.
- Plan and manage an annual research and family conference rotating in person and virtual.
- Identify pertinent rare disease meetings and conferences to attend and join when appropriate in partnership with BJB CEO or Director of Research
- Be familiar with the current research and community landscape of MED13L Syndrome staying abreast of new publications and developments to support informed decision-making and strategic initiatives.
- Support the Director of Research in implementing the Strategic Research Roadmap by advancing identified priorities and addressing research gaps for MED13L Syndrome.
- Oversee all external communications ensuring website information is up to date newsletters and social media.
- Maintain newsletters and social media posts at a regular cadence
Board Management/Volunteer Management/Staff Management:
- Maintain regular communication with BJB and MED13L to build strong relationships with the board and provide all information necessary to assess and address issues affecting the organizations and make informed decisions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Work with board chair and executive committee to build a board engagement plan that effectively engages all board members identifies new potential board members and starts a succession plan for all board leadership.
- In collaboration with board leadership successfully build annual budgets that show growth scalability and impact.
- Provide management and oversight for all current and future MED13L Foundation employees as well as any joint BJB Foundation/MED13L Foundation employees.
Skills/Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in social work non-profit management marketing or related fields that demonstrate a strong foundation in human services and organizational management.
- Minimum of 5 of experience in executivemanagement roles with a strong background in project management event planning volunteer management and stakeholder coordination. Strong project management and oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in social media.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of products (Word PowerPoint Excel).
- Skilled at networking and ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Experience building and managing budgets.
- Ability to measure and report fundraising effectiveness through data.
- Ability to travel when required.
Salary Range and Location:
- Position is based in the greater Chicago area and will be hybrid to facilitate more face to face meetings with volunteers and board leadership.
- Salary range is $85k - 95k based on experience
