Job Description

We are seeking a passionate facilitator of learning who enjoys teaching in a student centered inquiry based learning environment. The students staff and administration of Freetown Elementary School (FES) are excited to build our team of amazing educators. Freetown Elementary is a place where educators promote the learning and growth of all students through instructional practices that establish high expectations while creating a safe and effective classroom environment. Additionally all educators consistently and effectively collaborate with colleagues on a wide range of tasks such as implementing standards-based units and well-structured lessons examining student work analyzing student performance and planning appropriate interventions. We are seeking a positive and enthusiastic educator to join our substantially separate Grades 1-3 team at Freetown Elementary School. We pride ourselves on keeping our students with moderate to severe needs within the District providing quality programming to meet their high level of need. If you are someone who is passionate about working with students with more significant special education needs feel that all students have the capabilities and have creative approaches to teaching and learning in regards to academics communication and social skills then we encourage you to apply. Discrete Trial Training experience is preferred but not required. Come join our dedicated positive and hard-working OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks standards and the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for chairing annual IEP meetings Responsible for writing and revising IEPs Serve as liaison for a caseload of Special Education students Responsible for effective management of the classroom environment Responsible for using innovative approaches and instructional strategies including the effective use of technologies to increase student learning and confidence to learn Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning including implementing specific strategies for students with moderate to severe disabilities Responsible for the creation and implementation of differentiated curricula encompassing core content areas and life skills Responsible for management of paraprofessional resources in the classroom. Knowledge and experience with ABA discrete trials Responsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race color gender age religion gender identity national origin marital status sexual orientation disability or homelessness Performance of other job-related duties as assigned Complete additional tasks as assigned by Principal Special Education Administrator and Director of Student Services REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required certification in Massachusetts DESE license in Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities SEI Endorsement BA Degree PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience as a Special Education Teacher preferably at the elementary level Demonstrated experience supporting students with special education needs Candidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years). Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employment. REPORTS TO: Special Education Administrator and School PrincipalSALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators Association contract.
