QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Special Education and current Arkansas teaching license;
- Knowledge of IEP development behavior analysis principles and classroom behavior management;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Experience with students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
Preferred: Dual certification in Special Education and Elementary Education or Middle School Education
CONTRACT: 190 days-All Special Education Teachers receive additional 10% index to their salary base.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bridge Teacher (Behavior Support Focus) is responsible for providing specialized instruction and behavioral support to students with disabilities. This role involves collaborating with general education staff specialists and families to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) to promote student success in both academic and social-emotional domains.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Deliver specially designed instruction aligned with students IEPs with a strong emphasis on behavior management and emotional regulation.
- Develop and implement Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Use evidence-based practices to support students with significant behavioral needs in inclusive and/or self-contained settings.
- Collaborate with general educators and teams to ensure behavior supports are present during all transitions out of the Bridge classroom.
- Utilize a gradual release model to support students as they transition into lesser restrictive environments.
- Monitor record and assess student progress toward IEP and behavioral goals.
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers related service providers and support staff.
- Participate in IEP meetings contributing behavioral expertise and helping develop appropriate goals and accommodations.
- Communicate regularly with families to build positive relationships and provide updates on student progress and strategies for home support.
- Maintain compliance with all federal state and district special education policies and documentation requirements.
- Implement crisis prevention and intervention strategies including de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Foster a positive safe and structured learning environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisors.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:
- Frequent collaboration with school psychologists counselors and behavior specialists
- Some physical activity and potential need for crisis intervention.
- Maintain the confidentiality of students building-level teams and families.
