Your Department & Team
The department Pharma Technical Cell & Gene Therapy (PTCG) is looking for an intern to support the purification of viral vectors used for in vivo gene therapy. One of the core activities of our department is the development of manufacturing processes for future gene therapy products. In the internship you will work with the Downstream Processing (DSP) team to improve the performance and robustness of chromatography processes for the purification of adeno associated viral vectors (AAVv). Additionally you will support technical large scale purifications of AAVv for internal supplies. We are looking for an intern that will be able to spend 9-12 months in our group to support our efforts to bring the medicines of tomorrow to our patients.
Your Tasks
You support the development and implementation of our purification strategy for adeno associated viral vectors.
You perform purification experiments on small scale liquid chromatography (FPLC) systems for process optimization and validation.
You support the DSP team with large scale (up to 500 L) supply runs which includes liquid chromatography and ultrafiltration process unit operations.
You document your experiments and present the results to the team or the department
Your Profile
You are enrolled in a master course in one of the following subjects:
Biochemistry Biotechnology Chemical Engineering Biochemical Engineering or similar
You have theoretical and practical knowledge about chromatography ideally for the purification of recombinant proteins or viral products.
Additional experience in virology specifically with viral vectors is beneficial.
You are used to common office softwares (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint). Further experience with chromatography software (e.g. Unicorn) and electronic lab notebook solutions are beneficial.
You are able to work independently you are a team player and you are eager to learn more about the AAVv DSP process of the future.
You are fluent in English German language skills are beneficial but not required.
Start: August or September 2025 and are available for a total of 9-12 months with the option to complete your masters thesis with us
