3 months contract with local authority
The Council is seeking an experienced lawyer to fill the role of Lead Regeneration and Property Lawyer in Legal Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward the councils ambitious programme of regeneration and housing development playing a lead role in facilitating the delivery of regeneration plans and carrying a varied and complex caseload. Responsibilities:
- Act as the Lead Regeneration and Property Lawyer to drive forward the councils regeneration and housing development programme
- Facilitate the delivery of regeneration plans by working with colleagues across the Council
- Manage a varied and complex caseload including development agreements commercial and residential property transactions planning and highways issues compulsory purchase matters governance and ancillary issues arising from larger projects
- Provide clear and concise legal advice to a variety of audiences
- Work collaboratively and flexibly as part of larger project teams
Requirements
- Prior local government experience is desirable not essential
- Keen interest in and enthusiasm for local government
- Excellent communication and drafting skills
- Qualified solicitor barrister or fellow of the ILEX
- Ability to work at pace in a busy team
- Willingness to work in a hybrid working pattern attending the office 2-3 days per week
Requirements: Admitted to the SRA or FCilex Proven experience as a practicing lawyer Strong analytical and research skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Ability to work independently and in a team Sound knowledge of legal procedures and regulations
